A poker hand contains 5 cards and the person with the highest ranking hand wins.
The rank of hands that you can have in poker are 5 of a kind, straight flush, four of one kind, full house, flush, straight, 3 of one kind, 2 pair, pair, and a high card.
5 of a kind is the highest ranking hand and you have this when you have 5 of the same card (example: 5 Aces). A straight flush is the next highest. This is when you have 5 cards in a row of the same suit. (Example: One, two, three, four, and five of clubs) four of a kind is four cards that are the same. A full house is 3 of the same card and 2 of the same of a different card. (Example: 3 Jacks, 2 Aces)
A flush is all the cards of the same suit. A straight is 5 cards in order. Three of a kind is three of the same type of card. 2 pair is 2 pairs of cards. A pair is 2 cards that are the same. A high card is when you have a high ranking card and none of the other hands.
